POLLARD THE MOVER
Through The Years
Ivan Pollard, born around 1920 in Ontario, was a visionary tradesman and the founder of Pollard The Mover, a company that has become a cornerstone in the structural moving industry across Ontario. In 1951, after returning from World War II, Ivan began a business dedicated to moving and raising entire buildings. His work preserved countless homes, barns, and heritage structures that may have otherwise faced demolition.
Pollard's passion for saving structures wasn't just about business--it was about community. His generosity extended beyond the job site. He was known to lend a helping hand and share his expertise, including offering time and resources towards restoring the Ballyduff Presbyterian Church. His work ethic, ingenuity, and dedication to service left an enduring mark not only on the landscape of Kawartha Lakes but on the people within it.
Ivan passed away in 1971 in Lindsay, Ontario, but his legacy lives on.
Today, Pollard The Mover is led by Peter Katcher, who began working with Ivan as a young boy. Peter learned the trade firsthand and eventually took over the company, carrying forward with the same values of precision, innovation, and care. Under Peter's leadership, the company has implemented state-of-the-art hydraulic jacking systems and other modern equipment, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and safely--while still rooted in the craftsmanship and care Ivan championed.
Now over 70 years strong, Pollard The Mover continues to be a well known and trusted name in heritage preservation, structural relocation, and building raising across Ontario.
